This term culminated in a wonderful Christmas celebration and party through the window of Nightingale House care home on 4th December. There was a real sense of occasion and anticipation as the residents gathered in the lounge and waited for the children to arrive.
The children brought with them such energy, excitement, and delight at being able to share some festive fun with the friends they’ve made over the past 12 weeks. Although they have only met a few times through the window of the care home, the residents and children have had weekly zoom sessions and have already formed strong connections.
They were thrilled to see each other on Friday to have a dance, sing some songs and exchange Christmas cards and crafts they had made for each other.
There has been a real excitement from the children about coming today. There is definitely a connection with the residents and seeing someone from outside their family has really been helping the children develop their social skills; they are very considerate of the residents and talk about them all through the week at school. Personally, I have absolutely loved it. It’s been wonderful to see the connections between the two groups.

I always enjoy the children’s visits, but when it’s Christmas it’s a bit more special isn’t it? It makes me very happy. You don’t realise until the children get here how much you do enjoy it. It’s just wonderful.
